Standards compliance
- All pages on this site should validate as valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional. However, I admit that I’m not perfect and encourage you to inform me if you find an error.
- This uses valid CSS 2.0.
- All pages on this site use structured semantic mark up. H2 tags are used for main titles, H3 tags for subtitles, and so on.
Navigation Aids
- All pages link back to the home page, the top of the page, the main sections of the website and the blog archives.
- This site has a site map which lists all pages on the website.
- All pages feature a search box (Access Key 4) on the sidebar to the right, which searches the entire website.
- The navigation bar always highlights your current section while browsing this website.
Text
- All text on this site may be resized within a user’s browser. Windows users click “View” and then “Text Size” to select a new size.
- Most links have title attributes that describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link fully describes the target.
- There are no “javascript:” pseudo-links, with the exception of the “Add This” social bookmarking link on post pages and the rate this post feature. All other links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off.
- There are no links that open new windows without warning.
- All acronyms on this website are clearly labeled.
- Wherever possible, links are written to make sense out of context.
Images and Visual Design
- All content images used on this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include empty ALT attributes.
- If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
