RIP Steve Irwin

I woke up this morning to some shocking news: Steve Irwin, better known as the Crocodile Hunter, has died from a stingray attack. He was only 44 years old. Irwin was killed while filming some footage for his daughter’s upcoming TV show. He had planned on filming a segment for his upcoming documentary Ocean’s Deadliest that day, but the weather prevented it.

This loss is so shocking and sad. It’s strange that he was killed by one of the ocean’s ‘less deadly’ and not one of the ocean’s deadliest. After all those years of watching him wrestle crocodiles, it seemed like nothing could ever kill Steve. I grieve most for his wife and kids. Steve once described his daughter Bindi as “the reason he was put on the Earth.” His son, Robert, who is only two years old, never even really had the chance to know his “larger than life” father the way others close to him did.

RIP Steve Irwin. May your legacy live on forever.

I thought that incredibly odd also. He wrestles crocodiles without consequence but dies from a fish sting? He always seemed like such a sweet guy. I bet he was a fun dad, and I only wish his youngest could have known him. Heck, I wish I had known him.
